The Town of Avilla has scheduled a meeting on May 7 at 6:30 pm in Avilla Town Hall, 108 S. Main Street to inform the public about the Albion Street Project that will begin construction on or about June 3.
For those that cannot come to the meeting:
Avilla’s Community Crossing Grant Project will install new storm sewers, replace or add curbs, install new handicap accessible ramps to businesses whose floor levels are above the sidewalk, new sidewalks, new driveway approaches, new asphalt pavement, new crosswalk markings, new centerline markings and new decorative street lights on Albion Street from Haines Street to Ley Street.
The Gas Company (NIPSCO) is planning to begin replacing their underground gas lines during the first week of June.
Pulver Asphalt Paving, Inc. expects to begin removing and replacing sidewalks on the north side of the 100 block of E. Albion Street the second or third week of June. It is expected to take 5 to 6 months to complete the project.
On street Parking will not be allowed in the area while the construction is in progress. Traffic will be limited to one lane. However, there will times when the street will be closed. Detour signs will be set up to direct traffic around the construction area.
