Position – Part-Time Firefighter
Hours – 16 to 24 hours a week / 7:00am – 3:00PM / Monday – Friday / Days and Times may vary
Pay – $17 per hour
Minimum Requirements:
- -State of Indiana Firefighter I and II
- Emergency Medical Responder or Higher
- Hazmat Awareness and Operations
- NIMS 100, 700, and 800
- Valid Indiana driver’s license
Job Description
- Responding to emergencies: Responding to fire alarms, car accidents, and hazardous materials
spills - Firefighting and rescue: Performing fire suppression, search and rescue, and evacuating building
occupants - Medical assistance: Providing first aid, CPR, and basic life support, and assessing vital signs
- Equipment maintenance: Maintaining and inspecting firefighting equipment and vehicles
- Training: Participating in drills and ongoing training to maintain readiness
- Fire prevention: Conducting fire prevention inspections and educating the public on fire safety
- Communication: Communicating positively and respectfully with the public, and collaborating
with other emergency personnel - Any other task or duties assigned by the fire chief or other command staff
Physical and Working Conditions:
- Work involves walking, talking, hearing, lifting, and occasionally performing maintenance and
repair on fire department vehicles and equipment. - Exposed to toxic gases, and extreme weather; requires physical endurance and agility.
